Come cook with us!!

(tl:dr Sign up to cook with us here!)

We miss in-person Cooking Club! While we're enjoying building the delivery service, we've been looking for ways to bring back the in-person cooking -- and we've finally got it!

Of course, it's not exactly like the old weekend cooking sessions in Lisa's apartment -- but in some ways it's even better:

  • When we were cooking in Lisa's apartment, the people who cooked paid less than the people getting delivery, but, did still pay. Now, you don't have to pay (unless you want the food delivered to your home*) and the longer you cook, the more food you get! For every hour you cook, you'll get $20 in credit toward buying food.  And if you are there at 11:30, we usually go to dinner after (our treat). 😉

(It's $14.99 if you want to have your food delivered to you, but, you can pick it up from MFF or Lisa's apartment for free or simply take it home if you're cooking until 11:30.)

  • We have more space and better equipment and toys (a 3-foot tall immersion blender and pots some of you could fit inside!)

  • You do not have to commit to the whole time! You can sign up for as little as 2 hours or as much as the whole 7 hour shift (right now, the shift is on Thursdays from 4:30-11:30)

  • Believe it or not -- we wash FEWER DISHES!! We have a kitchen assistant who does most of our dishes! Sometimes if we are behind or backed up, we have to chip in... or if we need something quickly, we just wash it ourselves. But, for the most part, dishes are taken care of. We do have to sweep and wipe down tables, etc.

  • No more Facebook events!! You can sign up to cook here: https://koalendar.com/e/nyc-cooking-club

  • The kitchen is located at 36-49 36th Street in LIC/Astoria... a less than 5 minute walk from the 36th Street stop on the R (closer to the train and to Manhattan than my apartment ;))
A few notes:
  1. You must be vaccinated to cook in the kitchen
  2. You must wear a hairnet or hat that covers all your hair
  3. Unfortunately, we can't really sit around like we did in Lisa's apartment -- there are a couple of stools, but, most of the time is spent standing.
As always, you do NOT have to be a good cook to come to Cooking Club! We'll find you tasks that fit your skills and hopefully teach you some new stuff! We also have a lot of weighing and packing to do. 🙂

Email info@nyccookingclub.com if you have any questions! We hope to see you soon! :)
